History

In 1992, a small group of people at Riverside Community College, together with the local Kiwanis Clubs of Corona and Norco, hosted the first "Day of the Young Child". This day was established in April each year to celebrate children. This event was held 5 conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The NAEYC focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and supports the childhood programs that meet those needs.

The Corona-Norco Day of the Child celebration is comprised of local service organizations, schools and community service agencies coming together to provide a free day of fun activities, entertainment, and resources available in their communities. The annual event is held in April at City Park on Sixth Street in Corona.

The Corona-Norco Day of the Child officially became a nonprofit organization in the 1990's. To host an activity booth, donate or volunteer, please contact us. We also invite interested individuals to attend our planning meetings and be a part of our committee.
